International Recruiters’ Day got me thinking about why I love recruitment.
A lot has changed in recruitment in the decades since I joined the sector.
For starters, recruitment was the fastest growing industry in the UK in 2008. While that might no longer be the case, what hasn’t changed is the value recruiters add to people’s lives and the global economy.
With International Recruiters’ Day on my mind, I asked some of my connections exactly that, and here’s what they had to say.
Big shout out to all recruiters everywhere. You do an amazing job and I’m proud to support recruitment businesses and recruiters develop and grow.
What recruiters say on International Recruiters’ Day
I love recruitment because I can make a difference every day to my clients, candidates and colleagues, just by my daily activities.
Veronica
What I love most about recruitment is being able to build up real solid and trusting relationships with your candidates whereby they look forward to hearing your voice each time you call. It feels like you’re building more of a friendship than a business relationship.

I love the meritocratic and inclusive nature of our work. Anyone can do well in recruitment if they are driven and interested and I believe as an industry, we’ve got really good at supporting people through personalised development.
