Recruitment in 2021

By Lauren McLeod | 29th November 2021

I’d like to wish my network a very Merry Christmas 🎄 and a well-deserved break. It’s been a great year for recruitment!

In my 20+ years at GSR2R, this year has been the most bonkers so far and one to remember. It’s hard to believe how busy our recruitment market is versus we started the year in lockdown.

It’s been great to hear about my clients’ achieving record-breaking numbers and hearing from candidates I’ve placed over the years, calling me to tell me they are having personal best months and quarters.

For the first time, the majority of all my placements have been making fees in their first month – some in their first week!

It’s been brilliant to hear all this positively.

Listening to employees

2021 has been the year recruitment businesses have really started listening to what employees want from their work place – and many have stepped up. Work life balance is now being offered as the norm with various hybrid working arrangements being offered to suit recruiters’ personal needs.

Companies have opened their eyes to the fact that it’s not where you do your job that’s important, but what you do. Something GSR2R has been championing for over a decade.

GSR2R offers a total flexi policy with everyone working part time hours to suit them because we live what we preach.

This year we have delivered the best packages to our candidates. Companies have taken the time to review their structures to make sure they are offering the best career benefits, from work life balance to progression.

My favourite two things in 2020

  1. Personally, I started outdoor cold swimming (in Oct) and love it! The most terrifying and amazing hobby. I’d recommend it!
  1. GSR2R attended an excellent course on Diversity & Inclusion, hosted by Adam Tobias at Inventum. It was brilliant to receive information around this subject that was relatable and enjoyable.

One thing I’m looking forward to over the Christmas break is no e mails, texts or calls asking where their link is 😉

Final thought

It’s been a great year for our recruitment industry and I’m really looking forward to 2022!

Special thanks to all my clients and candidates for your continued support in making our industry a truly valuable and progressive working environment and career choice.

Until next year!

Cheryl
