Why it happens and why it’s okay.
At GSR2R, we call this the wobble, and we see it all the time , usually around the 2–3-month mark, but sometimes even earlier. No matter your level or experience, it can creep in unexpectedly.
What surprises me is that so few people talk about it. Most of us think we’re the only ones feeling this way , we assume it’s a sign we’ve made a mistake. But it’s not. It’s just part of adjusting to something new.
We always chat to our candidates about the wobble , not to worry them, but to support them. It’s a normal stage of settling in. You’re learning new systems, new people, new expectations, all while trying to prove yourself quickly.
Especially in recruitment, we put pressure on ourselves to hit the ground running. We want to integrate, impress and bill from day one. But it’s just not realistic.
I sometimes wonder if it’s more intense in recruitment than in other industries.
Either way, the wobble is real.
Most people get through it. Talking helps , to a colleague, your manager, or us. Just acknowledging how you’re feeling can lift the pressure.
So, if you’re feeling the wobble right now, know this: you’re not alone. You’re not.
