Why recruiters leave your business

There can be many reasons why recruiters leave your business.

But, one of the most important reasons as to whether a recruiter stays or leaves your business, is values.

Recently I have been talking to several top recruiters who are leaving their roles because their company values no longer align with their own.

The recruiter you once hired based on similarly shared values is now leaving for the same reason. Let’s dig into why recruiters leave your business, based on values.

Why is this happening and what can you do about it?

Recruiters love to embrace and champion company values. It gives them a sense of purpose and pride in who they work for. It is also a key driver for recruiters in tougher times.

At the interview stage, recruiters are drawn to companies that align with their personal values. Values often trump higher financial offers!

However, the flip side is that when employees find that their personal values are not aligned with those of the company, it leads to dissatisfaction and is a significant factor in employee turnover OR a lack of engagement and motivation. The employee stays but no longer performs at the level you know they can.

This is all solvable with a few simple steps.

  1. Define your values so they have meaning.
  2. Implement your values, this comes from the top down.
  3. Maintain your values.
  4. Implement consequences when necessary.
  5. Check how your employees feel about your values.
  6. Update your values if necessary.
  7. Talk about your values at the interview stage and give examples.

Get your values right and this will help you will attract and retain top performing recruiters.

If you would like to know more about how your values can be the driving force behind hiring and retaining your recruiters message me to start a conversation.

Until next time,
